Southland District Council’s Annual Plan 2017/2018 outlines what Council intends to do in the coming financial year. It includes information about activities and projects, and how these could be paid for. It also contains details of any deviations from what was proposed for 2017/2018 in the 10 Year Plan 2015-2025.
While most of our day-to-day work is going to schedule, delays with some key projects mean that our Annual Plan and rates changes for 2017/2018 will be a bit different from what we had planned for.
Total rates overall will increase by 3.63%, compared with 3.36% proposed in the 10 Year Plan. There have also been some changes to the timing of some scheduled projects, particularly water and sewerage projects and the Catlins road seal extension.
The public were able to provide feedback, with nine submissions received. A feedback hearing was held on 6 April and, following consideration of the feedback, the Annual Plan was adopted by Council on 7 June.
